Work is nearing completion on TRUenergy Tallawarra, Australia’s most efficient natural gas power station. On track to be fully operational by Summer 2008/09, TRUenergy Tallawarra will help NSW meet its growing energy needs.
TRUenergy Tallawarra will be a state of the art power station. It will use a ‘combined cycle’ electricity generator to product 400 megawatts (MW) of electricity, enough power to supply up to 200,000 homes. It will also produce around 70 percent less greenhouse gas emissions than traditional coal-fired power stations, making it Australia’s most efficient gas-fired power station.
Public enquiries regarding the Tallawarra power station can be sent to us via our 'Talk to Us' webpage or by calling 1800 336 003.

TRUenergy is considering plans to construct an additional gas power station, to be located next to TRUenergy Tallawarra. This new facility, known as Tallawarra B, will be a quick start, gas fired power plant, designed to provide back up electricity to the NSW energy market during periods of very high demand. Strict environmental controls will ensure both power stations do not impact on nearby residents or reduce the quality of the local Illawarra environment. More information about Tallawarra B will be available as we move through the planning application process.
| Tallawarra Lands is 565 hectares of private land adjacent to the Tallawarra power station site. The considered development of Tallawarra Lands will release the potential of this under-utilised site for the benefit of the local Illawarra community. TRUenergy’s vision is to rejuvenate the site with a balanced mix of uses: land for businesses, residential communities, and over 200 hectares of protected environmental and recreational reserves.
